CLIENT ATTRACTING SYSTEMS

vs

MARKETING TACTICS

When I first started in marketing many years ago, I thought that marketing = advertising. Then as I got further into it, I realized that, no - marketing is CONTENT creation. And the next week I realized that SEO is marketing. Several years down the line I thought maybe Masterclasses were marketing.

Turns out...

Those are all just marketing tactics. They're components of a system, but in a vacuum, they do not equal effective marketing. Just as we wouldn't call a bag of flour a loaf of bread, or a load of bread a sandwich, there are a thousand tiny and not-so-tiny marketing tactics that make up a holistic marketing system.

Before we focus on getting our tactics down perfectly, we have to step back and outline the entire marketing journey that a new client might traverse when first introduced to us.

When we can visualize the experience a potential client will have after they have just become aware of our existence, we will be able to put more intentionality into the seemingly disparate components of our marketing.

For example:

Let's say someone is introduced to you via a post of a friend of a friend on social media and they like what they see. Great! Suppose all you have done is develop a pleasant social media account. In that case, the momentum stops there, especially with the current algorithm that barely shares content, even to people who follow you!

But what if you have created intriguing content AND you have something available to them to further their experience with you outside of the container of social media?

This can take the form of a free or low-cost mini-class, pdf, quiz, podcast, Facebook group, email series, etc, that you offer in exchange for them joining your "list," whether via email, group, phone number, etc.

Once they have joined, they can receive your positive impact via content shared on social media AND email/group/phone, where they will learn more and more about who you are, how you teach, and what you offer.

From here, building on attention and engagement and relationship building, we have entered the realm where high-ticket sales are born. Once we have fostered this connection, we can begin to have profitable course, 1:1, and group class launches.

Another example:

If someone finds us on social media through an organic post and LIKES it but doesn't follow us, how do we reengage with them? Are they lost to the ether, never to be seen again?

Nope! If we have a holistic marketing system, we can create systems that will help catch and reengage with potential clients.

Effective marketing systems are built around excellent marketing tactics. The best part is that you don't have to have a super complex system for it to be effective.

Start simple, start at the bottom, and work your way UP. As you grow your business and have more resources at your disposal, you'll be able to add additional complexity and efficiency to your overall marketing system.

Here's the thing about a marketing system. It does the work of a hundred organic social media posts a month FOR you. Perpetually. It brings aligned clients to your launches who are ready to work with you and NO one else. It takes work to implement up front, but it is effort that is 100% worth it and 1000x easier than trying to drum up 3-6 unique posts a day for Instagram or Facebook.

Get a system. Get freedom.
